Overview

DualView is a browser extension that shows two subtitle languages at once on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Udemy, TED and Coursera, with click-to-dictionary, sentence replay, and optional AI study features. Core subtitle features work entirely on your device and require no account. This policy explains what data we handle and why.

What we collect

  • Account data (optional). If you create an account to use AI features, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Learning data (only when signed in). To generate personalized AI features (translation, grammar explanations, daily conversations, weekly stories, card chats), the extension sends the relevant subtitle text, the words you look up, and your learning preferences to our backend.
  • Local settings. Your preferences (languages, font size, position, etc.) and login tokens are stored in your browser's local storage on your device.

Third-party services

When you use the built-in (non-AI) translation or dictionary, the selected subtitle text is sent to Google's public translation endpoint to return a translation. No account information is included in those requests.

How we use your data

Data is used solely to provide the extension's features — showing subtitles, translating text, and generating your personalized study content. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Permissions we request

  • Storage — to remember your settings and keep you signed in.
  • Host access — to read the subtitle track on the supported streaming sites, fetch translations, and (when signed in) talk to our backend.

Data retention & deletion

You can sign out at any time to remove tokens from your device, and uninstalling the extension clears its local data. To delete your account and associated learning data, contact us at [email protected].
